1. Tell me how you got involved in your business?

For about two years I had friends and family telling me I needed to try essential oils and how wonderful they are. I thought it was just another pyramid scheme/product being hyped up and I don’t get involved in any of that, so I wrote them all off politely. About a year ago, I got so sick. Probably close to the sickest I’ve ever been, and one of my friends brought me over a bag with 4 bottles of oil and handwritten directions. I thought she was crazy, but I followed the directions, and I am not kidding when I tell you the next day it was like I had never been sick at all. It was then I started to be a believer…but still dragged my feet writing it off to coincidence.

Fastforward about 6 months…my cousin started telling me how life-changing Young Living oils had been for her. She explained the importance of using the Young Living all-natural therapeutic grade vs. the in-store imitations full of perfumes and water, and encouraged me to try it. But, it wasn’t until My third encounter with a random stranger at a massage office, that I decided to take the leap. I was battling insomnia, anxiety, and depression…just going through a really rough time…she put some stress away oil on me and while I didn’t realize it until later that day, I felt better than I had in a long time. I bought my starter kit that day and I’ve been obsessed with them ever since. I sleep great, my mood is much better, I am happy and I feel better. I don’t sell them to make money – I share them because I truly believe they are life-changing.

2. What does a typical day look like as in the like of someone who runs their own business?

I spend a ton of time on my phone. Talking to people and answering questions about oils and blends, and different ways oils can help many different issues; researching new blends and ways people use oils; responding to facebook messages, etc.

The oils speak for themselves. Once people try them, they love them. It’s a matter of getting people to realize it isn’t just another scheme and they truly are life-changing…also battling the stigma associated when people try store-bought oils and swear oils don’t work for them, not realizing only all-natural, pure, therapeutic grade oils have the ultimate wellness effect.

3  What attributes does someone need to have in order to be really successful in this position?

Just be friendly. The main thing about Young Living is you can’t SELL the oils. They sell themselves. What you need is to BELIEVE in the product and want to share your story with others. I don’t sell. I’m not a salesperson type, and I would never be good at that. However, I 100% believe in Young Living, what they stand for, and the products they provide. So, it’s easy for me. Although, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’m disappointed when people don’t want to try them. Again, not because of the sale, but because I did that for so many years and now I know what I was missing and wish I hadn’t.

4. What are the biggest challenges that someone in this position would face?

There really aren’t any. It can be done part time or full time. You just have to be willing to tell people about your oils.

5.  What did you do before you started your business?

My background is Law Enforcement, Security and Investigations. I just attended training for Executive Protection, and am about to get my private investigators license.

6.   Please tell us about your business, the products you offer?

All of our products are health and wellness based. We have three main starter kits – essential oils (comes with a diffuser, a bunch of oils, and extras), thieves all natural cleaning kit, and the Ningxia health/antioxidant/energy drink kit.

9. What do you feel is your greatest sales accomplishment and when/why did it happen?

I wouldn’t really say I’ve had a sales accomplishment. The way I see it, I am excited that each and every person that signed up to be a member on my team, has also fallen in love with the products and are as excited to help others as I am. It’s validation that others see what I see and are wanting to compound forces to get oils into every home.

10. How do you balance client expectations versus real expectations? How do you handle it when they are too high?

I honestly haven’t had any issues with this. I think I lucked out in being involved with a product that sells itself. The only struggle I have experienced is that because the products are derived from plants, there are circumstances where natural disasters have created a bottleneck in production and shipping times for some products. Obviously some people are disappointed, but that is a factor beyond human control.

11. Pretend I’m a prospect and give me an example of a pitch of a product or service you are selling.

I truly don’t “pitch” my products. I share my own experiences, which start with my example in #1, where I was horribly sick one day, and miraculously not the next. I also highlight all the benefits of becoming a member. If someone asked for explanation, this is what I would respond:

There are so many benefits to essential oils that many people know nothing about! I’m on a mission to educate everyone about their life changing benefits. I love to hear what types of issues are bothering them and then tell them there is actually a solution. I was surprised to hear many people battle with the same issues I did. I never thought there was a solution – but there is!

17. What roll does Social media play in your selling process?

Social media helps me share my experiences broadly, reaching people from many backgrounds and spanning various locations. It also makes communication much easier, and enables resources to be accessed to guide people on how oils can help them, rather than leaving them stranded with a kit they don’t know how to use. We have free classes!

18. How do you handle irate clients/customers?

I haven’t experienced an upset member yet.

19.  Whats worse not reaching a goal every month or not having happy customers?

I always want everyone to be happy, of course.

20. If you were a potential client/customer what would you want to hear about your business, products or services.

I like people to know that while it may be a small investment up front, that they will be glad they made the decision to change their life. Young Living is not your typical scheming product, hyped up junk. You also cannot compare store bought oils full of chemicals and watered down substance, to authentic oils. Oils that work will not be a couple bucks in the middle of a store. Remember if you want something to be life-changing, the small investment is well worth it.
